Biography
Reese spent his childhood surrounded by classical music and jazz, but began studying composition with Jimmy Giuffre and Hugh Hartwell in 1970. After graduating from Hamilton College in 1972, he continued his education at McGill University , at the University of Pennsylvania ( AM , 1975), Tanglewood and Carnatic rhythm.
He is currently a professor of music at the University of Pennsylvania.
Reese is married to artist Cecilia Paredes and has two sons, Matthew Reese (b. 1981) and Nicholas Reese (born 1983).
Music
Reese's music is based on the polyphonic classical tradition.
