Hatillo de Loba ( Spanish: Hatillo de Loba ) is a city and municipality in northern Colombia , in the territory of the Bolivar department.

History
Prior to the arrival of the Spaniards, the territory of the municipality was inhabited by representatives of the Indian tribes of Malibu ( malibúes ) and Chimil . The settlement from which the city later grew was founded in 1745. The municipality of Hatillo de Loba was separated into a separate administrative unit in 1988. [1]
Geographical position
The city is located in the central part of the department, on the right bank of the Lob’s branch of the Magdalena River , approximately 218 kilometers southeast of the city of Cartagena , the administrative center of the department. The absolute height is 18 meters above sea level [2] .
The municipality of Hatillo de Loba consists of two parts (east and west), separated by the territory of the municipality of Margarita . The western part of the municipality borders the territory of the municipality of San Fernando in the north and north-west, the municipality of Pinillos in the south and south-west, and the municipality of Margarita in the east. The eastern part is bordered in the north-west by the territory of the municipality of Margarita, in the south-west by the municipality of Barranco de Loba , in the south-east by the municipality of San Martin de Loba , in the northeast by the territory of the Magdalena department. The area of the municipality is 426 km ² [1] .
Population
According to the National Administrative Department of Statistics of Colombia, the total population of the city and municipality in 2015 was 11,971 people [3] . The dynamics of the population of the municipality by year:

According to the 2005 census, men made up 53.3% of the population of Hatillo de Loba, women - respectively 46.7%. Racially whites and mestizos accounted for 72.2% of the city’s population; Negroes , mulattos and Raisalets - 27.8% [4] . The literacy rate of the entire population was 72.9%.
Economy
The economy of Hatillo de Loba is based on fishing , aquaculture and agriculture [1] .
52.4% of the total number of urban and municipal enterprises are trade enterprises, 37.1% are service enterprises, 9.1% are industrial enterprises, 1.4% are service enterprises [4] .
