Football career

Born in Kings Norton , Birmingham . He played for the club " Redditch United ." In February 1924 he moved to Manchester United for 300 pounds [1] . He made his debut in the main club on January 17, 1925 in the match of the Second Division against Coventry City . It was his only match of the season played for the first team. At the same time , Taylor scored 20 goals in the Central League for the United League reserve team in the 1924/25 season. At first, Taylor played an insider position, but then he began to play the role of center forward, making several hat-tricks for the club’s reserve team [1] . In the 1927/28 season he underwent surgery on the joint, recovered, but already in the next season received a new serious injury. His full return to the main team took place only in the 1929/30 season , and he played in the position of not a striker, but a midfielder. Taylor looked very convincing in his new role: he even began to be compared with such legendary United midfielders as Charlie Roberts and Frank Barson , who also played in t-shirts with the number “5” [1] . However, in the same season, Chris received another injury, and for the main team no longer played. In total, he spent six seasons at United, playing a total of 30 matches and scoring 7 goals [2] .

In September 1931 he was sold to Hyde United club [3] .
