Career
Pagan began his career at an amateur club in his hometown that performed at the Americana Sports Association. Then he played for the amateur local club "Lanus" [1] . Then he moved to the youth team of the local club " Zhabakuara ." Soon he began to train with the base of the team and in 1952 he made his debut at the base in the match against Nacional , in which his team lost 2: 6 [1] . After this defeat, Pagan wanted to end his career as a football player, but he was stopped by the fact that the player received 800 cruzeiro in the club, and he did not have other types of earnings [1] . The second team in the striker’s career was Portuguese Santista , where he spent two seasons [9] , scoring 10 goals. Of these, five in one match, December 19, 1954, the second division of the state championship with the club " Velo " [10] .
In 1955, Pagan joined the Santos Club. On November 20, 1955, he made his debut in a match with Guarani (5-0), where he immediately scored a goal [11] . In his first year on the team, he helped the club win the São Paulo State Championship , the first such title in 20 years. But this year the striker was an understudy Emanuele Del Vecchio [12] . A year later, the club repeated this success, and Pagan became the team's top scorer, scoring 34 goals in all tournaments [1] , while Del Vecchio was transferred to the left flank [12] . In the same season, Pele began to play for the club, he, together with Pepe and Pagan, formed the team’s line of attack, called “Line of Three P” ( port.-Brazil. A linha dos três P's ) [11] . In 1957, the striker also scored high scoring, scoring 33 goals in 59 matches [13] . In total for the club he played 345 games and scored 159 goals [1] , according to other sources 340 matches and 157 goals [14] [15] . Pagan won six state championships with Santos, one Rio Sao Paulo tournament , two Brazilian Cup draws, the Libertadores Cup and the Intercontinental Cup . However, the striker did not enter the field in the draw of the latter.
In 1963, Pagan became a São Paulo player. On August 15 of the same year, he played his first match against the former club, Santos. The meeting ended with the score 4: 1 in favor of São Paulo; Pagan scored one of the goals. The game was replete with skirmishes and injuries of players, as well as two removals, because of which the chief referee of the meeting Armando Marquez was forced to finish it before the end of the playing time; in "Santos" could no longer be on the field the minimum number of players [1] [16] . He played for the club for two more seasons, being the Prado understudy [17] . In total for São Paulo, Pagan played 59 matches (29 wins, 16 draws, 14 losses) and scored 14 goals [18] . He played in the United States [13] [19] and the Portuguese from 1967 to 1968 [10] . In 1965 [20] and 1969 he played for Itapema [21] , and in 1970 for Londrina [22] . A year later, he played for the Igarata club [23] . In 1972, for the club Tian Maya [24] .
On April 4, 1991, Pagan died due to liver failure [11] .
