Short Biography
In 1976 he graduated from the University of Birmingham (England) with a degree in electronics and electrical engineering, in 1997 - an advanced management program at Harvard Business School (USA).
He began his career as an engineer at the state oil company Petronas (1976). Here he was promoted to vice president of the human resources department (1998-2002), vice president of the research and technology department (2006 - 2008), vice president of the gas business department. He was also Petronas oil refining general manager in Malacca (1991-1998 ) Along with this, he was a member of the Energy Commission and the National Council for Science and Research, as well as the president of the International Gas Union (2009-2013) [1] .
In 2012-2016 was the rector of Petronas University of Technology [2] . Since October 31, 2017 - Rector (Vice Chancellor) of the University of Malaya [3] . Chairman of the Philharmonic Hall Petronas [4] .
