John Dalleus ( Dalley ) [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] ( lat. Joannes Dallaeus ), or Jean Daye ( French Jean Daillé ; January 6, 1594; Chatellerault - April 15, 1670; Paris ) - theologian and priest of the French Reformation , Christian writer; is one of the largest apologists for the Reformed Churches of his time.

Biography
Born in Chatellerault , studied in Poitiers and in Saumur . From 1612 to 1621, John Dulleus was the mentor of the two grandchildren of Philippe Duplessis-Morne and made several trips with them to different parts of Europe. In 1619, he went with his students to Italy, where he met with Paolo Sarpi in Venice . He was placed in the ministry in 1623. For some time he was a personal chaplain with Philippe Duplessis-Morne in La Foret-sur-Sevres , and subsequently worked on the book, The Story of the Life of Messier Philippe de Mornay, Lord Plessis Marly ( Fr. Histoire de la vie de Messire Philippes de Mornay, seigneur du Plessis Marly ). In 1625, Dalleus was appointed minister of the church in Saumur, and in 1626 he was elected Paris Consistory minister of the church in Charenton-le-Pont , where he served until his death. Jean Daye belonged to the liberal part of the French Calvinists ( Huguenots ). In 1659, he was chairman at the last national Huguenot council in Luadon, France. In the book “The Apology of the Cathedrals in Alencon and Charenton-le-Pont” ( French: “Apologie des Synodes d'Alençon et de Charenton” ), Jean Dayet defended hypothetical universalism Moise Amiro ( Amiraldism ). One of the first in relation to Christian practice, Jean Daye began to use the term “ disciplina arcani ” (“secret teaching”). Dalleus is known as the author of writings on the apologetics of Protestantism, which was criticized, in particular, through the Jesuit and priest of the Roman Catholic Church of Charenton-le-Pont François Verona . Jean Daye wrote several volumes of sermons on the epistles of the Apostle Paul ; he is the author of 724 sermons; he published Calvinist treatises in Latin and in French.
