Yury Petrovich Starodub (born March 20, 1953 , Khabarovsk ) is a Soviet and Ukrainian mathematician , geophysicist , full member of the Ukrainian Oil and Gas Academy .

Biographical information
Yuri Starodub was born on March 20, 1953 in the city of Khabarovsk . He studied at the Faculty of Physics of Lviv State University. I.Franko . He graduated with honors from the university in 1975.
Scientific activity
Since 1975, he worked at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Ya. S. Podstrigach Institute of Applied Problems of Mechanics and Mathematics, Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, 1975-1991; SI Subbotin Institute of Geophysics (IGF), National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine , 1991-2009). The dissertation for the degree of candidate of physical and mathematical sciences defended in 1984 at the Department of Computational Geophysics, Institute of Physics of the Earth. O. Yu. Schmidt, Moscow . In 2002, he defended his thesis for the degree of Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences on the topic " Mathematical Modeling in Dynamic Seismic Problems for Studying the Structure of the Earth's Crust" at the IGF NAS of Ukraine. Four young scientists defended their candidate dissertations in a scientific group (three employees had a supervisor).
He works as the head of the department of methodology and technology for geophysical exploration of the Naukaneftegaz subsidiary of the national joint-stock company Neftegaz of Ukraine .
He developed, tested and defended in his doctoral dissertation a matrix-finite element method of mathematical modeling of wave fields for solving such problems: seismology , seismic exploration and seismic engineering . He conducted a study of the stress-strain state, the propagation of seismic waves through the intersection of the earth's crust in the direction of the Carpathian geotravers, under the Chernobyl nuclear power station , in oil fields .
Starodub Yuri Petrovich - author of 5 monographs (2 of them are computer), has 80 scientific publications. Since 2002 - member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists - SEG (Society of Exploration Geophysicists, ID 144655), since 2002 - American Engineering Society, section (UESA), since 2003 - Ukrainian Geological Society. In 2004 he was elected a corresponding member of the Ukrainian Oil and Gas Academy, in 2007 he was elected a full member of this academy. In 2007, he was included in the list of “Outstanding scientists of the 21st Century”, International Biographical Center, Cambridge , UK .
Teaching experience
Teaching experience in higher education institutions 3-4 accreditation - 9 years. In 2008, he was elected professor at the Scientific Council of the IGF NAS of Ukraine.
