Abbas Mirza Mosque ( armenian Աբաս Միրզայի մզկիթ ( Abas Mirzayi Mzkit ' ), Pers. مسجد عباس میرزا مسجد عباس میرزا, Azerbaijani Abbas Mirzə məscidi Abbas Mirzə was from Turkey . The mosque was built in the nineteenth century by Abbas Mirza Kovanly-Kajar . The facade of the mosque was covered with green and blue glass, reflecting Persian architectural styles. After the capture of Yerevan by Russians, the mosque was turned into a barracks. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]
In Soviet times, the mosque, along with other religious buildings - Armenian churches, temples and monasteries, was abandoned, and until recently only one of the walls of the mosque remained intact. [6] [7]
