In North America, published July 31, 1999, in Europe - August 11, 1999. The game received critical acclaim due to its original concept, being one of the first games about snowmobiles. The series currently consists of two games, both of which are called simply Sled Storm. The game features snowmobiles (called “sleds” (in the original “Sleds”), stunts and fourteen snow-covered fields consisting of slippery slopes, inclement weather and treacherous rocks. Gameplay
The game had the opportunity to acquire improvements for the snowmobile, which can improve handling, as well as acceleration. A trick function was also implemented, which was performed using two shoulder buttons in conjunction with a crosspiece. Whatever combinations of buttons are used, it would affect what trick was used. It was also possible to combine higher jumps to get an even higher score. After defeating the mountains, you can unlock more modernized snowmobiles, which are thin, fast and agile skids, capable of overtaking even the fastest snowmobiles.
Sled Storm offers two forms of racing for both multiplayer and solo competitions: championship and fast racing. Quick Race allows you to play on any of the tracks, open during the competition. Players can choose their own alter-ego from a pool of characters, each with their own skills evaluated in five areas: maximum speed, acceleration, control, stability and stunts. Once a player has found a suitable character, he or she can set the number of laps (from two to nine), the time of the race (day or night) and even the weather conditions (clear, snow or rain). Championship mode involves participation in a series of races that can earn you money, as well as open additional tracks and hidden characters. You are waiting for two types of racing: Open Mountain and Super SnoCross. The Open Mountain Championship includes direct races on the Alpine terrain, when you are trying to finish first receiving a cash prize (which can then be used to buy upgrades in areas such as steps, skis, brakes and spotlights). Super SnoCross includes racing strictly for points when you combine tricks from courses inspired by motocross. Earn enough points and you can unlock additional bonuses.
Sled Storm also has a Time Trials mode, in which you participate in the races for the best result, which will allow you to enter your name in the list of the best. After the players have completed Time Trials, there are a number of customizable features that will help tailor the game to individual preferences. After completing several options, you can mix and match unlocked courses to form your own championship. AI can also be changed by switching “Catch Up Logic”, which means that computer-controlled riders will move faster as soon as you send them. Finally, a multiplayer game can be configured on a split screen both horizontally and vertically.
Players can also save unlocked characters, improved cars, and passing maps using a memory card with one free block. The game includes support for the DualShock analog controller, offering both analog control and vibration feedback during races. In addition, the soundtrack included songs from people like Rob Zombie, Econoline Crush, Uberzone, EZ Rollers and Dom & Roland. Once players go through the trash, they can put the disc in a standard CD player and listen to the music.
Development
The first game in the Sled Storm series was released on the PlayStation game console. The game has similarities with the earlier game from Electrionic Arts Road Rash , although the environment and vehicles are completely different, there are several similarities. Both games rely on fast-paced racing alongside the dangers placed in the player’s path and the ability to throw opponents off the track. Both games have cash prizes that allow you to upgrade equipment. However, the game is different from Road Rash, the ability to play up to 4 players simultaneously through the Playstation Multitap .
