Biography

Born in 1767 in Livonia in the family of a Lutheran pastor.

He graduated from the Riga Gymnasium, then studied in Germany, received in 1789 a diploma of a doctor of medicine from the University of Jena.

Since 1791, the city doctor of the city of Narva.

Since 1793 - a doctor in the Simbirsk governorate. After - the district doctor of Kemi .

Since 1797 - a doctor at the Alexandrovsky plant in Petrozavodsk .

In 1798, he participated in the elimination of the typhoid epidemic in the Olonets district.

Since 1802 - Inspector of the Olonets Medical Council [2] .

Since 1804 - chief physician of the Revel Maritime Hospital.

Since 1813 - chief doctor and medical inspector of the St. Petersburg port.

For the successful treatment of malignant fevers (the first hydrotherapy experiments in Russia) with the help of cold baths, he was approved as a member of the medical council at the Ministries of Education.

Since 1817, the chief physician of the Kronstadt Naval Hospital.

Since 1828, Mr .. dismissed [3] .

He was one of the founders of the St. Petersburg Imperial Mineralogical Society , and from March to April 1827 - its director [4] . He donated to the community a collection of minerals collected in the Olonets province and the Druze amethysts from the Wolf Island on Lake Onega .
