Biography
Anatoly Sergeevich was born on August 27, 1946 in the village of Snov , Nesvizh District . In the family of the future singer, everyone had good voices. After graduation, he entered the Belarusian State Conservatory in Minsk, which he successfully graduated from. From 1972 he was the soloist of the Concert and Pop Orchestra of the State TV and Radio Company, and from 1974 he became the soloist of the Belarusian television and radio. The voice of the singer is a pleasant velvet baritone . Anatoly Sergeyevich had a solid repertoire of pop, patriotic and folk songs. He sang songs of such famous Belarusian composers as Yevgeny Glebov , Igor Luchenka , Anatoly Bogatyrev . He sang songs both as a soloist and with other singers, for example, with Natalia Haida . Toured in the USSR and abroad, including in Cuba . With the composer Luchenk the singer had not only creative, but also friendly relations.
Podgaysky had a charming and courageous appearance and liked women very much, but was faithful to his wife Alla. The character of Anatoly Sergeyevich was not easy. He was not afraid to speak the truth in the face, not thinking about the consequences. During the flight on tour, one of the high-ranking party officials flying in an airplane with Podgaysky casually told him: "Sing, since you are a singer." To which Anatoly Sergeyevich refused him. After that, the singer for some time "blocked" the performances and recording on the radio. One of his last works, which he did not have time to complete, was the participation in the television version of the composer's opera Anatoly Bogatyrev "In the Forests of Polesye".
Doom
Anatoly Sergeyevich Podgaysky was killed by police in July 1982 under the following circumstances.
From the memoirs of the People's Artist of the USSR Igor Luchenka :
Tolya died tragically. And that was it. Late in the evening, together with the composer Volodya Budnik Tolya was returning from a military unit in which they gave a chef concert. Of course, the hospitable military laid the table and generously treated the artists. Tolya got out of the car near the House of Officers, near the tank and went down to the 9th house on Kupala Street - his wife’s apartment was there. Literally, near the house, Tolya was stopped by a policeman. Instead of bringing him to the apartment, the policeman began to find fault. Tolya, of course, did not remain silent. The policeman called for reinforcements, Tolya was put into the car, taken to the Leninsky district police department. Yes, Tolya was drunk, brawled, force was applied to him. And not calculated. Outwardly, Podgaysky is a tall, strong man. But shortly before this incident was different. Under similar circumstances, Toll participated in a fight, however, with civilians, and received a serious head injury. I know for sure, because I brought all my familiar doctors to their feet — Tolya took them to them, and they saved him. Given the state after the injury, not even a strong blow could be fatal for him. In the regional department Tolya and died. I know that the police tried to take his body to a detoxification center, to the hospital, but they were told: we don’t take dead people.
I called the then Minister of the Interior, I say, they say, yes, Tolya is guilty: he drank it, he bickered, but this is not a reason to kill him! The minister replied: “What, your artist is not able to walk straight?” .
