Biography

Kazimir Ivanovich Patrilyak was born on December 16, 1938 in Lemkovschina, in the village. Uplands of the Sanok County of the Ryaszew Voivodeship (Poland). In 1946, the Patrilyakov family was relocated to the village. Gai-Rostotsky Zborovsky district of the Ternopil region , where in 1956 Patrilyak graduated from high school. In 1961 he graduated from the Lviv Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Oil and Gas Technology.

In 1969 he defended his thesis, and in 1986 - a doctoral dissertation. Since 1991, he headed the catalytic synthesis department of the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry and Petrochemistry (IBONH) of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. He held the position of professor at the National Technical University of Ukraine "Kiev Polytechnic Institute."

K. Patrilyak is the author and co-author of more than 200 scientific papers. He investigated complex heterogeneous and heterogeneous catalytic systems. He formulated the pattern of anomalous changes in the pressure of saturated vapor over a substance in massive and cluster states, and analyzed the consequences that flow from it. He discovered the phenomenon of vibrational adsorption, discovered its role as a switching mechanism of certain vibrational processes. He proposed mechanisms of practically important carbon-ion reactions. He developed a number of domestic catalysts .

In 1978, in the interests of Yuzhmash and the then defense industry, he solved the problem of forecasting for up to 20 years the operational characteristics of materials without lengthy and costly field tests.

During 1986-1988, after the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant , he developed effective methods of dust suppression and fixing dusty areas, which allowed to reduce radiation levels of the air basin tenfold. He supervised these works of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in the exclusion zone of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. Over 5 thousand hectares of dusty areas of various types were fixed, dusty roadsides of highways hundreds of kilometers long, dusting of hundreds of kilometers of dirt roads was eliminated.

K. Patrilyak prepared 10 candidates and one doctor of sciences, more than 20 industrial engineers and masters. He was a member of the academic councils of the Institute of Physical and Chemical Biology of Ukraine and the Institute of Physical Chemistry. L.V. Pisarzhevsky National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine for the defense of candidate and doctoral dissertations, a member of the state examination committee of NTUU "KPI" in the specialty "Chemical technology of inorganic substances." He was a member of the editorial boards of the journals Catalysis and Petrochemistry, Theoretical and Experimental Chemistry (both NAS of Ukraine ) and Petrochemistry ( RAS ).

He was awarded three medals, Diplomas of the Government Commission on the consequences of the Chernobyl accident, Certificate of Honor of the Presidium of NAS of Ukraine, Certificate of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine .

Laureate of the State Prizes of Ukraine in the field of science and technology in 2014 [1] .

He died on April 3, 2015. He was buried in the native village of Gai-Rostotsky .
