Biography
From 1767 he served in various government posts.
Author of two comic operas (1785). He is best known for his instrumental music , especially the 13th symphony concerts (1772–1800). He also created 25 string quartets , other chamber works, symphonies, violin concertos, arias, etc. The musical compositions are written in a simple style, in accordance with the tastes of that time.
Jean-Baptiste Davo is credited with the invention of a belt- chronometer in 1784 - a device for precise reference of tempo when performing a musical work, long before the invention of the metronome I. Melzel .
