Geographical position
The commune is located in the middle part of vilayet, at an altitude of 10 meters above sea level [2] .
The commune is directly adjacent to the capital of the country and the center of the vilayet, the city of Algeria and is approximately 14 kilometers from its center [3] .

Industry
In 1964, a small oil refinery with a capacity of 2.7 million tons of oil per year (58 thousand barrels per day) was commissioned in El Harrash. The refinery is owned and operated by the Algerian oil and gas company Sonatrach. Oil is delivered to the refinery through an oil pipeline from the Hassi-Mesaud field. The plant produces motor fuel and the CIS for the local market and straight-run gasoline and fuel oil for export. [five]
