History
The manor complex in Izmailovo was erected in the XVI-XVII centuries as a royal prison . The estate economy consisted of arable land and manufactory production and until the end of the XVIII century was considered one of the most successful in the territory of the Russian Empire . Since the beginning of the XIX century, the estate complex began to decline. After the 1917 revolution, the buildings were abandoned, and in 1937 the church of St. Joasaph, which was located on the estate, was demolished. The historical buildings of the 17th century have survived to this day: the front and rear gates of the Sovereign's Court , combined with the side wings , the Bridge Tower, as well as office and utility rooms [2] .
In 1974, an exhibition of avant-garde artists , originally held in Belyaevo, was transferred to the territory of the Izmailovsky manor complex. The change of location was due to the scandal that had risen in Europe: during the exhibition in Belyaev’s wasteland, the paintings were damaged by workers who “carried out the clean-up” there and were crushed by bulldozers , which made the event go down in history as the “ Bulldozer Exhibition ”. Subsequently, the exhibition on the territory of Izmailovo was officially authorized by the Soviet authorities [3] .
Before the 1980 Summer Olympics, the construction of a multi-story hotel began on the estate, however, several years later, construction was suspended and the foundation pit was filled up. Suggestions were made to give up the wasteland formed for the construction of the rehearsal base of the Beryozka ensemble , but the project was never implemented. In the late 1980s, a group of entrepreneurs created an impromptu market in Izmailovo, which received the status of vernissage in 1991. In the mid-1990s, the premises of the vernissage were enlarged due to two-story market premises occupying seventeen hectares . Today, the opening day consists of a center of crafts, a flea market and a fair space [3] [4] [5] .
In 1998, a public figure Alexander Ushakov presented to the Moscow government a project for the construction of a wooden Kremlin on the territory of the estate with an entertainment complex. The city authorities gave permission for the construction, the construction of which continued until 2007 [3] . As the basis for the architectural construction, the place of the shopping arcade and the structure of the royal residence of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich was used . As a result, the new Kremlin is located on a hill, it was surrounded by wooden fences and a stone wall with travel towers [5] [6] [7] .
In 2001, the church of St. Nicholas of Myra was opened on the estate, which received the status of the monastery of St. Danilov in the stavropegic male monastery . The temple is one of the tallest wooden structures in Russia - its height is 46 meters [8] .
The opening of the first exhibition spaces took place in 2003, and in 2005 a major fire destroyed many of the Kremlin’s wooden buildings. Six months later, it was decided to restore the lost structures, as well as the construction of new buildings: the Palace of the Russian Meal and the Wedding Palace , also decorated in the style of Russian architecture of the XVII century [5] [6] . The total area of newly built premises was 6500 m². In the courtyards of the Izmailovsky Kremlin, workshops of blacksmiths , potters , woodcarvers, weavers were located , where master classes for visitors are also held [9] [10] . In 2018, the chief architect of Moscow, Sergey Kuznetsov, announced plans to build a pavilion for the production of decorative elements on the territory of the Kremlin [11] .
In 2019, the Moscow City Architecture Committee presented a district development project that provided for the demolition of the vernissage in Izmailovo, however, representatives of the Our Izmailovo public movement managed to convince the metropolitan city hall to abandon this decision [12] .
June 13, 2019 there was a fire covering 50 m 2 . Ignition was localized [13] .
Exposition
Museums are located both in the historical buildings of the Tsar's Court and the Intercession Cathedral of the 17th century, and in the new buildings of the 2010s, created in the style of Russian architecture [14] [15] .
In total, the entertainment center includes seven museums. The Museum of the History of the Russian Fleet is located on the bank of the Serebryano-Vinogradsky Pond near the Izmailovsky Island and tells about the evolution of shipbuilding in Russia [1] . The collection of the Museum of the History of Vodka is dedicated to the story of the 500-year-old history of the drink, one of the centers for the production of which was the Izmailovsky lands where there were arable farms [1] [16] .
The Living Museum of Folk Toys is dedicated to the evolution of Russian toys from the 16th to the 20th century . The exposition of the Bread Museum tells about various production techniques and recipes for baking [1] . The entertainment complex also includes the Museum of World History in Plasticine miniatures , based on a private collection of plasticine figures, and the Children's Center Museum of Rude Children , where visitors can enjoy interactive entertainment: painting on the walls, shooting from a slingshot , painting fences and more [1 ] [6] [17] .
