Biography
Born in 1974 in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu , Quebec . He is the son of Jacques Desille , a mathematician and director of the College of General and Vocational Education [1] , and Lucy de Belfey , Director General of the Secretariat for International Adoption. In 1996, Desille received a bachelor's degree in film and literature from the University of Montreal , and after a while he entered [2] . Thanks to his experience in making films and using his creative vision, Desily takes control of the creation of games such as the 2007 Assassin's Creed and his sequel Assassin's Creed II, as well as Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield , Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time , and .
Ubisoft Incident
Desile left Ubisoft in June 2010, which was confirmed by the company on June 13, 2010, in search of greater creative independence. After a year's hiatus from the gaming industry, Patrice officially returned, joining THQ as creative director at their new Montreal studio in June 2011. For two years at THQ Montreal, Desile worked on a new project called 1666: Amsterdam, leading a team of almost fifty people.
However, fate played a cruel joke with Patrice and in 2013 the company was bought by Ubisoft for $ 2.5 million [3] , and its development project was frozen, which made him somewhat perplexed and decided to sue the company. However, a few years later, Ubisoft and Patrice Desile agreed on the rights to the mysterious 1666 project: Amsterdam. Desile's own studio, called Panache Digital Games, received these rights, and he withdrew the lawsuit in which he demanded Ubisoft $ 400 thousand. On April 13, 2017, the Gamology website issued an interview in which the creator of Assassin's Creed talked about the difficulties of working for Ubisoft:
While I worked at the company, I had to be the person who gives the interview and tells what [Ubisoft] is doing at the moment. I had to lie in the interests of the company, and this caused me the most discontent. [...]
I agreed with the statements and decisions made by other people - not me. When working in a large organization, it comes down to a compromise. [...]
And as a creative director, it was difficult for me to live with the decisions of other people, to speak [with their words] on the camera or on Skype. In the end, I said: "I'm not such a good liar, and I can no longer do this."
Patric Desile, Game Designer
In addition, Desile came to the conclusion that, working on a large franchise, he earned money for people “who didn't give a damn about him”. Desile left Ubisoft for the second time in 2013. Desile recalls the work on Assassin's Creed with nostalgia and says that the game has a special place in his heart:
I love the crystal clearness of the first Assassin's Creed. In the second part, we came up with an adventure for you, while the original invited you to find your own adventure. This was the poetry of the first part, and the motto of the assassins just well reflects the essence of the game. "Nothing is true and everything is permitted." Yes, I definitely like these words.
Panache Digital Games
On December 14, 2014, Patrice Desile and his team launched a new game development studio in Montreal, Panache Digital Games, where they are working on their first project called Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey . The studio is also located in Montreal, Canada, where many other developers are already working.
