Player Career
Tonegato acts in the position of a wing or center. Previously, she played rugby league and was a participant in the 2013 World Cup; she won there as part of the Australian national team. In regular rugby, he represents the state of New South Wales, participated in the state championship among girls in 2013 and in the youth Olympic festival. Has been a member of the rugby-7 team since November 2013, made her debut in the first stage of the 2013/2014 World Series (Dubai). In April 2016 she was named the best stage player in the Atlanta 2015/2016 World Series. He is one of two rugby players who managed to make five attempts in one match of the World Series.
In 2016, Emma Tonegato got into the application of the Australian rugby 7 team for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro (game number 4). Tonegato recorded seven attempts at the tournament: two in matches against Fiji and the USA , one in matches against Colombia , Spain and New Zealand . In the final against the New Zealanders, Emma brought the first attempt of the Australian team, and with a score of 24:17 her team won the final and won Olympic gold in this sport [8] . As an Olympic champion, Tonegato was awarded the Australia Order Medal on January 26, 2017, Australia Day [9] [10] [11] .
