Following the renewal of the MINURSO mandate, the resolution welcomed the continued deployment of sapper units and the necessary administrative staff in Western Sahara to mine land. The Council also called on the Governments of Morocco , Algeria and Mauritania to sign the Status of Forces Agreement with the UN .
In addition, the resolution requested the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Kofi Annan, to inform the Council every 30 days about the progress in implementing the settlement plan and the agreements reached between the parties, as well as the validity of the MINURSO mandate.
