History

The first warehouses for storage and shipment of grain at the Putivl railway station were built in 1898 [1] .

After the end of the hostilities of the Civil War, the warehouses were restored and continued to operate as the Buryn grain collection point Zagotzerno .

During the hostilities of the Great Patriotic War and during the German occupation, the enterprise was damaged, but in accordance with the fourth five-year plan for the restoration and development of the national economy of the USSR, it was restored and in 1946 resumed work.

In accordance with the ninth five-year plan for the development of the national economy of the USSR , an elevator was built here in 1974, the Buryn elevator enterprise also included warehouses for a grain reception center [1] . The elevator has become one of the leading enterprises of the city [2] .

After the independence of Ukraine, the elevator was transferred to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Ukraine .

In March 1995, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine included the elevator in the list of enterprises whose privatization is prohibited due to their national importance [3] .

After the establishment of the state-owned joint-stock company “Bread of Ukraine” in August 1996, the elevator became a subsidiary of SJSC “Bread of Ukraine” [4] .

After the creation of the State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine on August 11, 2010, the elevator was included in the enterprises of the State Pharmacological Plant of Ukraine [5] .

In the 2015–2016 marketing year, the Buryn elevator (which accepted 93 thousand tons of grain for storage) was one of the five largest elevators of the SFGCU [6] .

In April 2017, an audit of the enterprise’s activities by prosecutors began [7] , during which it was established that in 2011 the integral property complex of the Buryn elevator acquired the status of private property in violation of the requirements of the law. In June 2017, by decision of the economic court of the Sumy region, the elevator's property complex (whose book value at that time was almost 14 million hryvnias ) was returned to state ownership [8] [9] .

Current status

The main functions of the enterprise are the reception, storage and shipment of grain crops ( wheat , corn , barley , rye and oats ), as well as soy and oilseeds ( rapeseed and sunflower ) [1] .

The total working capacity of the elevator is 99.8 thousand tons (including the elevator - 72 thousand tons and storage - 27.8 thousand tons) [1] .
