Biography and career

Born in London on October 8, 1899 under the name Margarita Cecilia Brigitte Lucia Maria Albanesi ( born Margherita Cecilia Brigida Lucia Maria Albanesi ). Her mother Adelaide Effie Rowlands was a writer, and her father was the Italian violinist Chevalier Carlo Albanesi. She studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and made her film debut in 1918.

She had a successful theatrical career, in particular, playing in the production of John Galsworthy's “ First and Last ” together with Owen Neyrs . Soon, critics began to call her as one of the brightest promising actresses on the British stage [3] [4] . However, having starred in only six films, Albanese died at the age of 24 in Broadstairs , in Kent on December 9, 1923, presumably after an illegal abortion [5] [6] .

Albanesi was in a relationship with theater and film producer Basil Dean whose obsession with the actress continued after her death [7] . Initially, Dina was attracted to his [future] wife, actress Victoria Hopper its outward resemblance to Albanesi. Basil gave her roles in several of his productions. His last feature film, “ Twenty One Days, ” was shot based on the play “First and Last,” which he worked on with Albanesi [8] .
