Biography

Coming from the Orthodox clergy of the Mirgorod district of the Poltava province . He studied at the Poltava Theological Seminary, from where in May 1806 he was transferred to the number of state- graduate students of the Imperial Medical and Surgical Academy . In 1807, as a student of the 3rd grade, he began to act as assistant to the prosector under Professor Zagorsky . Before graduating from the Academy, on April 27, 1809, Emperor Alexander I granted Petrashevsky a gold watch. After graduating from the academy with the title of healer of the 1st department and with a silver medal, he continued to bear the duties of assistant to the prosector and at the same time became the intern of the St. Petersburg Land Hospital; in the hospital, Petrashevsky practically studied surgery and invented two machines: one “for stretching out dislocated finger joints”, and the other “for pressing the coronary labial artery if it is impossible to bandage it”.

In 1810 (December 3) Petrashevsky received a diploma from the Academy for the title of medical surgeon and transferred to the Life Guards Preobrazhensky Regiment as a battalion doctor; July 23, 1811 he entered the regimental headquarters healer in the Tver Dragoon Regiment . Before the outbreak of war , on April 22, 1812 he was appointed chief surgeon of the 2nd Western Army , and on September 2 of the same year he was appointed under Count Miloradovich the chief doctor for the vanguard and rearguard; December 18, 1812 received the rank of college assessor .

Transferred to the Life Guards on May 30, 1813, the Finnish Regiment, while following the 2nd Guards Division from Paris to St. Petersburg, corrected the position of a division doctor. At that time, he was awarded the Order of St. Vladimir of the 4th degree (07/27/1813) and the Order of St. Anna of the 2nd degree (04/23/1814 - for the difference during the battles of Leipzig and Paris) for excellent work.

In 1816, he was sent to establish divisional hospitals in Narva , Porkhov , Pskov, and Novgorod , and in 1817, the Guard Hospital in Moscow, where he served as chief doctor. Finally, on January 10, 1819, he was appointed St. Petersburg Staff Physicist and infirmary for infirmaries in St. Petersburg and his province, and from April 14, he was appointed chief doctor at the institutions of the St. Petersburg Order of Public Charity. In the same year, he was sent to the hospital established at the Volkov Cemetery in the institution of the Old Believers-Bespopovites and set up a special department for syphilitics at the Kalinka hospital .

On November 26, 1821, the Medical and Surgical Academy recognized Vasily Mikhailovich Petrashevsky as a doctor of medicine and surgery - without an exam. In 1822 he received a diamond ring. In 1824, after the flood, he wrote a project on the construction of a hospital on Vasilyevsky Island for 250 people, which was built near Tuchkov Bridge .

Since 12/12/1824 - state adviser; January 14, 1826 received the Order of St. Vladimir 3rd degree. In December 1825, he was invited to assist General M. A. Miloradovich, mortally wounded in Senate Square.

In 1830 he was involved in the construction of cholera hospitals; since 1831 - their temporary medical inspector. In 1835 he was sent to Gdovsky County to combat anthrax . In 1837 he drafted projects, plans and staffs for the construction of hospitals in the district cities of St. Petersburg province ( Shlisselburg , Yamburg and Gdov ).

In 1839 (March 21), he was dismissed from the position of physicist at Stadt, and from July 16, 1841 he was under the special inspector of the medical unit Baronet Willie ; being in this position until his death, March 26, 1844 Petrashevsky was promoted to acting state councilors .

He died on May 29, 1845 and was buried at the Volkov cemetery (on Literatorsky bridges ) with his wife, Theodora Dmitrievna, nee Faleeva, who died on February 7, 1867 (at 65).

In addition to his son Mikhail , he had two daughters: Elizabeth (in Verkhovskaya marriage) and Alexander (in Semevskaya marriage).
