The 2018 European Table Tennis Championship (the official name is “Liebherr 2018 European Championships”) took place from 18 to 23 September 2018 in the city of Alicante ( Spain ). Within the framework of the championship, 5 sets of medals were awarded in singles among men and women, in doubles among men and women, and in mixed category [2] .

Championship System
The championship was held in five disciplines:
- Men's singles (champion 2016 Emanuel Lebesson );
- Women's singles (champion 2016 Melek Hu );
- Men's doubles (champions 2016 Patrick Francis , Jonathan Groth );
- Women's doubles (champions 2016 Christine Silbeisen , Sabina Vinter );
- Mixed doubles (champions 2016 Joan Monteiro , Daniela Dodyan-Monteiro ).
In single-player games, the game began with 1/32, where the first 32 players were sown according to the rating, and the remaining 32 players were identified by games, first in qualifying groups, and then in elimination rounds. In doubles, the games started at 1/16, where the first 16 pairs were sown according to the rating, and the remaining 16 pairs were determined by the games in the qualifying rounds. In single ranks, the result of the meeting was determined in 7 batches, in doubles - in the main draw in 7 batches, and in the qualifying rounds in 5 batches, in the mixed category, the result of all meetings was determined in 5 batches. At the championship were used tennis tables and nets from Butterfly , balls "Nittaku Premium 40 + ***" (white) [3] .

Results of Russian athletes
At the European Championships in the men's tournament, Russia had a quota of four people, in the women's five people [4] .
The only medal of Russian athletes on the account of Yana Noskova is silver in the doubles category.
