Geography
It is a sparsely populated hilly steppe [3] , unsuitable for crop production [4] . The eastern part of the plain is occupied by the Chauda naval training ground of the Russian Aerospace Forces [5] . Several shallow rivers ( Peschanaya , Krivaya , Naimanskaya , Bash-Kirghiz ) and many shallow beams lie along the plain [2] [6] .
Geology
The South-Western Plain is the oldest part of the Kerch Peninsula, formed by easily eroded Maykop clay [3] , which form several large folds [7] , eroded over a long period of time and the surface of the region acquired the appearance of a hilly plain slightly inclined to the sea. It is a direct continuation and immersion of the core of the Crimean meganticlinorium. It is a wide syncline that separates the Vulkanov anticline lying to the east from the west Vladislavovsky [7] . At the base, the plain is composed of paleogenic sediments with a thickness of about 3000 m [8] , covered with tertiary rocks at the surface, which are associated with a tertiary rock band in the northern foothills of the Crimean Mountains [9] . Dark chestnut solonetzic soils and their combination with meadow steppe solonetzes, as well as chernozems lying on heavy clays with a humus content of 3.4-3.9% are widespread [4] .
