Blekhtsin, Igor Yakovlevich

Igor Yakovlevich Blekhtsin (born April 13, 1941 , Leningrad ) is a Soviet and Russian chess player , USSR master of sports in chess (1964), international master (1995), economic geographer. As part of the Leningrad team, the winner of the USSR championship between the teams of the Union republics in chess (1960). Vice President of the St. Petersburg Chess Federation [1] . Doctor of Geographical Sciences (1984), professor.

Biography

Born in the family of Yakov Samoilovich Blekhtsin (1900-1981) and Elizabeth Yakovlevna Blekhtsina (1902-1994) [2] . The elder brother Samuel (1927-1942) died in the siege of Leningrad [3] .

Pupil of the coach V. M. Byvshev . In the late 1950s and early 1960s he was one of the leading young chess players of Leningrad. In 1959, he shared the 2-3rd place in the USSR championship among youths [4] . He represented the Leningrad team in the USSR championship between the teams of the Union republics in chess in 1960, where he won first place in both the team and individual events [5] . From 1961 to 1966 he participated in the Leningrad chess championships, in which he showed the best result in 1962, when he took second place [6] .

In 1963 he graduated from the Leningrad Order of Lenin State University named after A. A. Zhdanov . Since 1973, deputy head of the department at the Leningrad Financial and Economic Institute. Author of studies on the problems of interaction between society and the environment, environmental aspects of the distribution of productive forces [7] . Professor of St. Petersburg State University of Economics .

Author of the book “On Chess and Not Only About Them” (2003).
