History
The street was named after the road to the city of Ostrogozhsk .
Until the 19th century, the territory in the area of the road was not used economically. From the east, oak grove, descending to the Voronezh River, approached her, from the west - treeless plain spaces. The industrial development of Voronezh forced the authorities to take dirty production away from the residential center, and on the Ostrogozhskaya road numerous slaughterhouses and the accompanying bacon and soap factories began to appear. One of the waste was ash, which was dumped into a large ravine along which the road to the river passed (the area of the current streets of Ladoga and Onega), and the area was called Zolka. Of the largest industrialists who traded not only with Voronezh , but also with other cities, including Moscow , it is worth noting philistines S.V. and M.V. Matasov and merchants Mikhailovs. Other famous Voronezh residents are associated with the name of the latter: I. Nikitin was resting at the cottage of A.R. Mikhailov, nearby, and Ya. M. Marshak, father of the writer Samuel Marshak, worked as a foreman. The writer himself was probably born and spent the first years of his life right there, at the cottage of A. R. Mikhailov.
Actually Ostrogozhskaya street was laid along the old road in the prewar years. Covered with cobblestone, it began to be built up by the private sector (after the war). Over time, a tram line from Krasnoznamennaya Street was extended along it, building a ring 2 kilometers from the old one. From the final stop, buses to the Near and Far Gardens departed. Near the tram end appeared a military shooting range and a circuit.
The modern Ostrogozhskaya street stretches for 11 kilometers and connects the city with the Near and Far Gardens and the Shilovo microdistrict.
