Gheorghe Gurmuzaki ( ukr. Gheorghe Gurmuzakі ; 1817 - 1882 ) - Bukovinian journalist, folklorist and social and cultural activist.

Biography
He was born on September 17, 1817 in the village of Chernovka, Austria-Hungary, now Novoselitsky district of Chernivtsi region of Ukraine. Brother Alec and Eudoxia Gurmuzaki.
He graduated from the Chernivtsi German Gymnasium and the Faculty of Law of the University of Vienna .
Gheorghe Gurmuzaki became one of the founders and editors of the Romanian-language newspaper Bukovina (1848-1850), which covered the news of the political and cultural life of Bukovina . Articles in the newspaper were printed in both German and Romanian. In 1865, he founded the magazine "Foya Sochietetzii ...", which existed until 1869. On the pages of this magazine Gurmuzaki published a number of articles and reviews on the topic of Romanian folklore and culture.
In 1861, George and his brother George founded in Chernivtsi the international community, which he headed. In this society, various sections of the Bukovinian population were accepted. In 1865–1882, he was chairman of the Society of Romanian Culture and Literature in Bukovina. He was elected a deputy to the Bukovinian Sejm and the Vienna Parliament.
Died May 13, 1882 in the city of Chernivtsi. He was buried in the Russian cemetery.
His son, Eudoxius (1845–1936), was a famous politician and cultural figure in Bukovina.
