Story
The action takes place in 1864 during the Civil War in the United States . The mare of one of the soldiers of the First Michigan Union Cavalry Jim Rabb gave birth to a foal, who was named Colt. A superior officer orders the soldier to shoot the foal, because he may become a burden when moving the unit, but the soldier sees in birth a sign of hope for victory and refuses. During an attack by the Southerners' army on the camp, the foal is stolen, and Jim must risk his life to get him back.
