Alexander Alexandrovich Kopylov (born June 4, 1924 , Krasnodar ) - conductor of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theater (1953-1963) and the Bolshoi Theater . Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1961), People's Artist of the RSFSR [1] (1987), Laureate of the State Prize of the Uzbek SSR named after Khamza (1983), Honored Artist of the Uzbek SSR (1983).

Biography

Alexander Kopylov was born in a family of musicians in Krasnodar. He traveled extensively around the country as a child, since his father often worked as a concertmaster in various symphony and opera orchestras. For the first time, he received conducting skills from the famous conductor Alexander Gauk at the Bolshoi Theater, which at that time was evacuated to Tbilisi . But the lessons were short, because soon Alexander Kopylov went to the front.

After the war, he entered the Yerevan Conservatory , where his teacher was Konstantin Sarajev , a famous conductor and teacher. During the study period, he played the bassoon in the orchestras of the Opera and Ballet Theater named after A. A. Spendiarov and the Yerevan Philharmonic.

After graduating from the conservatory, he moved to Novosibirsk and worked at the Philharmonic , after which he worked for 9 years at the Novosibirsk Opera House and Conservatory .

In 1962, the conductor was invited to the Bolshoi Theater to audition, the result was a tour with a ballet troupe in America , after which he was accepted to the Bolshoi Theater.

At the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theater, he was the conductor of such performances as Esmeralda ( C. Pugni ), The Bronze Horseman R. Glier , Masquerade (A. Laputin), Sleeping Beauty , Swan Lake and The Nutcracker ”( P. Tchaikovsky ),“ La Bayadere ”( L. Minkus ),“ The Lotus Precious Lantern ”(Jean Xiao Hu, first production in the USSR),“ Stone Flower ”( S. Prokofiev ),“ Bakhchisarai Fountain ”( B. Asafiev ), etc.
