Galina Akimovna Archakova (born November 11, 1939 , Khabarovsk ) - Soviet and Belarusian chess player , USSR master of sports in chess ( 1969 ), nine-time champion of the Belarusian SSR in chess ( 1958 , 1960 , 1961 , 1962 , 1963 , 1964 , 1966 , 1968 , 1972 ; in 1970 divided 1-2 places, but the title of champion was awarded to K. Zvorykina ) [1] . The team of the Byelorussian SSR is the bronze medalist of the 3rd Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR in Chess ( 1963 ). Candidate of Technical Sciences.

Biography
In the 1960s, she was one of the strongest chess players in Belarus. From the late 1950s to the early 1970s, she won many times in the women's chess championships of Belarus . In the spring of 1969, she won the qualification match against K. Skegina in Minsk with a score of 8.5: 5.5 and received the title of Master of Sports in Chess [1] .
Thrice participated in the finals of the USSR Women's Chess Championships ( 1962 (December) , 1965 , 1966 ), in which she showed the best result in 1966, when she divided the 11-14th place. Six times represented the team of the Belarusian SSR in the championships of the USSR between the teams of the Union republics in chess (1958-1963, 1972), in which in 1962 she won second place in the individual competition, and in 1963 she was third in the team and individual competition [2] . Also known as a chess coach and judge of the highest national category [3] .
In 1961 she graduated from the Belarusian Polytechnic Institute (now the Belarusian National Technical University ). From 1963 to 1994, she worked at the Central Research Institute for the Integrated Use of Water Resources, and was a leading researcher [4] . Has scientific publications [5] .
