Biography
Born in the village of Novy Martynov (now in the Galich district of Ivano-Frankivsk region ). He studied at the University of Lviv . For 33 years, starting in 1884, he taught at the University of Lviv.
Y. Puzyna was the first to read special mathematical courses in Lviv . From 1891 he conducted practical classes in mathematics. In 1893 he founded a mathematical seminar, which he led until 1918 .
The main direction of Y. Puzyna’s scientific activity was the theory of analytic functions .
In 1905 - the rector of the Lviv University, in 1906 - its vice-rector.
Author of the two-volume monograph "Theory of Analytic Functions".
In 1900-1919, he was the owner of the land and patron of churches in the villages of Stankov and Falish (now Stryi district, Lviv region).
Y. Puzyna died on March 30, 1919 in Stankovo, in his estate. He was buried in Stryi in a grave crypt with an inscription in Polish: “Youzef rests here - Prince Podolsky Puzyna was born 1856 - died 1919. Rector of Lviv University. A member of the Krakow Academy. The landowner sat Easel, Falisha, Pili.

- ↑ Apparently, one person with the information in the table to the article about the Puzin clan in “Noble Clans of the Russian Empire” [1] Yusef (1856–?). He is shown as the son of a certain Vladimir son Andrzej (1781–?) Of the son Stanislav (? —1811) of the son Anthony of the son of Christopher Dominic (? - until 1732). The younger brothers of Christopher Dominic show Michael and Anthony .
If this is true, then Józef is Cardinal Jan Puzyna’s second cousin.
