Biography
Ashim Kurambayevich Omarov was born on May 13, 1929 in the South Kazakhstan region , in the Tolebi district , aul Kyzylasker . He graduated from the Moscow Institute of Steel (diploma with honors), then worked for seven years at metallurgical plants of Azovstal , Dneprodzerzhinsk and Donbass , he went from an assistant steelmaker to a head of open-hearth shop, at the same time engaged in scientific activities. From 1953 to 1957 worked as an engineer at a metallurgical plant in Tashkent,
He graduated from the graduate school of the Institute of Metallurgy of the USSR Academy of Sciences , in 1960 he defended his thesis on the topic "Intensification of the period of refining the open-hearth scrap-process."
In 1960 - 1961 - Researcher of the Academy of Sciences of the Uzbek SSR . From 1961 to 1968 worked as vice-rector of the Chimkent Institute of Chemical Technology, rector of the Kazakh Polytechnic Institute (now Satpayev University) (1968–1976), rector of Chimkent Pedagogical Institute (now South-Kazakhstan State University named after M. Auezov ) in 1984-1992. Since 1993 he has been engaged in scientific and pedagogical work in KazNTU named after K. Satpayev.
In 1977, A.Omarov defended his doctoral dissertation at the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys "A comprehensive study of the phase composition and structure of multicomponent alloy catalysts and the development of the technology for their preparation." In 1989, he was elected a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR [2] ; in 2003, he became an academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Scientific and educational activities
The main scientific works are devoted to the study of the phase composition and structure of component alloys, theoretical and practical issues of improving the technology of steelmaking. Together with a group of scientists, he participated in the development and implementation of automated process control systems in metallurgy. The author of 18 testimonials, 9 inventions.
During the reign of AK Omarov in KazPTI for the first time in Kazakhstan and in the republics of Central Asia, metallurgical engineers began training in the specialty "Metallurgy and heat treatment of metals." New specialties are being opened: electronic computers and automated process control systems, oil exploration and gas, physical and chemical studies of metallurgical processes, networks and systems, electric drives and machines, metal forming, etc. The institute creates the first Computing center and educational television, open preparatory department in all specialties, as well as a number of new departments in higher education institutions of the republic. In 1969-1971, for the first time among the universities of the Union, the Kazakh Polytechnic Institute developed a unified plan for training and educational work for the entire period of study. students, which by the decision of the Collegium of the Ministry of Higher Education of Kazakhstan and the Union was recommended for introduction in the country's universities.
To improve the quality of training of young specialists, branches of the profiling departments at large mining and metallurgical plants - Balkhash , Ust-Kamenogorsk lead-zinc , Leninogorsk polymetallic , etc., as well as in a number of research institutes of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic, are opening. At the Kazakh Polytechnic Institute in 1972, for the first time in the Union, a department of production organizers was established, where directors, chief engineers, heads of workshops, directorates, deputy ministers of mining and smelting, oil and gas, geological, energy, and construction industries of Kazakhstan, Russia, underwent training and retraining. Ukraine, the republics of Central Asia. For them, a special educational building of the faculty and a hotel-type dormitory were built.
In 1970, the General Development Plan of the Institute was approved. The design of the main building, the construction of the academic building of the oil faculty was started. In 1971, the design and construction of the Alma-Ata Energy Institute , which was opened on January 1, 1975, began. In 1973, on the southern outskirts of Alma-Ata (in the Orbita microdistrict), a number of dormitories for students and two residential apartment buildings for faculty members were built on an area of 20 hectares and the construction of the main building of the Alma-Ata Architectural and Construction Institute began . building academy. In 1969, in the town of Rudny, on the area of 12 hectares, Tiprovuz was designed with its subsequent construction of the main educational building of the Rudny Industrial Institute on the basis of the branch of KazPTI. At the same time, on the northern shore of the Kapchagai reservoir on an area of 50 hectares, an educational and recreational complex was created not only for students and faculty members to relax, but also for conducting educational practices of geological, oil and geophysical and other faculties. Were built student canteen for 500 seats, the building of the military department. The management of the institute has had a noticeable impact on the development of science: new sectoral laboratories were opened, direct links with the mining and metallurgical and other enterprises of the republic were strengthened.
The contingent of students has reached 18 thousand, the number of graduate students - up to 300 people. In 1970, as the winner in the All-Union competition of 378 technical universities of the Union, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of V.I. Lenin , the institute was awarded the Diploma of Honor from the Ministry of Higher Education and the VDNKh of the USSR with the assignment of KazPTI named after V.I. Lenin [3 ] . The Kazakh Polytechnic Institute in those years was among the 8 leading technical universities of the Union and rightfully became the forge of engineering personnel of the largest industrial enterprises of the country and the flagship of technical universities of the republic.
