Contents of the treatise
The author, using a scientific approach, mainly in the mathematical sciences, described the most effective methods of warfare. He examined different types of weapons: he separately described the work of a sword and a sword with a dagger (the main weapon of the nobility of that time), two swords, a sword and a shield , a sword and a cloak . Also, Agrippa focuses the reader on the use in battle of halberds , two-handed swords and spears . He gives advice on hand- to -hand combat methods and the difference between fighting on a horse and on foot. A significant part (about 1/3) of the treatise is devoted to philosophical reflections, which, according to the author, are an invaluable tool that can help both in battle and in civilian life.
