Contents of the treatise

The author, using a scientific approach, mainly in the mathematical sciences, described the most effective methods of warfare. He examined different types of weapons: he separately described the work of a sword and a sword with a dagger (the main weapon of the nobility of that time), two swords, a sword and a shield , a sword and a cloak . Also, Agrippa focuses the reader on the use in battle of halberds , two-handed swords and spears . He gives advice on hand- to -hand combat methods and the difference between fighting on a horse and on foot. A significant part (about 1/3) of the treatise is devoted to philosophical reflections, which, according to the author, are an invaluable tool that can help both in battle and in civilian life. About the author

Camillo Agrippa is a Venetian master of fencing , architect and engineer. He is the author of several treatises. He contributed a significant part to the development of European fencing. His treatises changed the idea of ​​civilian fencing and predicted the emergence of a new style of fencing based on piercing with a rapier. His ideas influenced many works of other outstanding masters of the XVI century. [1] [4]
