Lithuania at the 2018 Winter Olympics was represented by 9 athletes in 3 sports. At the opening ceremony of the Games, the right to carry the national flag was entrusted to the participant of the 2014 Olympic Games biathlete Thomas Kaukenas [1] . Lithuanian biathlete Thomas Kaukenas showed the best result .

Biathlon
Most of the Olympic licenses for the 2018 Games were distributed according to the results of the countries in the World Cup qualification in the 2016/2017 World Cup [2] . According to the results, both the men's and women's teams of Lithuania took the 22nd place [3] [4] due to which they were given the right to declare 2 athletes to participate in the competitions, as well as the mixed relay team [5] .

Alpine skiing
The qualification of athletes to participate in the Olympic Games was carried out on the basis of a special FIS qualification rating as of January 21, 2018 [6] . At the same time, the NOC could only choose the athlete who entered the top 500 Olympic rankings in his discipline for participation in the Olympic Games, while having a certain number of points, according to the qualification table [7] . Countries that did not have participants among the 500 strongest athletes could only apply for category “B” quotas in technical disciplines [7] . According to the results of the qualification, the Lithuanian team won 2 Olympic licenses of category “B” [8] .

Cross-country skiing
The qualification of athletes for participation in the Olympic Games was carried out on the basis of a special qualification rating of FIS as of January 21, 2018 [9] . To obtain a category “A” Olympic license, athletes had to score a maximum of 100 points in the FIS distance rating [10] . In addition, each NOC may apply to Games 1 male and 1 female if they fulfill the qualification criterion “B”, according to which they will be able to take part in the sprint and 10 km races for women or 15 km for men [10] . According to the results of the qualifying selection, the Lithuanian team won 2 Olympic category “A” licenses for men and another category “B” for women [11] .
