Dimensions
One microfiche measuring 6 × 12 or 7.5 × 12 cm fits from 30 to 130 pages of book text.
For reading, special (usually called reading) projection apparatuses are used that create on the integrated screen a magnified 5-20 times image of one or a couple of pages. Microfiches can also be read with a magnifier , slide projector or a powerful magnifier .
Manufacturing Method
They are performed on high-contrast positive film and, less commonly, on photo paper. Printed from negatives shot on high-resolution film (Mikrat-200, Mikrat-300).
Application
Before the massive development and implementation of digital technologies, computerization, microfiches were used in libraries, archives and design offices to reduce the physical volume of documentary information repositories. Microfiche was widely used as a catalog of spare parts for cars. Later they were replaced by electronic catalogs.
