Eli Ould Mohamed Vall ( Arabic: إعلي ولد محمد فال ) - statesman and military leader of Mauritania . From August 3, 2005 to April 19, 2007, he served as chairman of the Military Council of Justice and Democracy [1] .

Biography
Born in 1953 in the city of Nouakchott , French colony of Mauritania . In August 2005, when President Maujia Ould Sidi Ahmed Taya was abroad, a military coup took place in Mauritania. Colonel Eli Ould Mohamed Wall, a former associate of disgraced President Ahmed Thaya, was the leader of the conspirators and led the Military Council for Justice and Democracy. Eli Ould Mohamed Wall made a statement that democracy would be restored in the country, and in 2006, a referendum on constitutional reforms was held in Mauritania. Most voters approved amendments to the constitution, which included: changing the term of the presidency from 6 to 5 years, as well as the addition that one person can not hold the post of president for more than two terms. Presidential elections were held in March 2007 and Sidi Mohammed Ould Sheikh Abdullahi became the first democratically elected President of Mauritania [2] [3] [4] .
On May 5, 2017, Eli Ould Mohamed Vall died of a heart attack in Zouerate [5] [6] [7] .
