Biography

Maciej Tomasz Chizovic was born on January 28, 1962 in Szczecin , in the family of Boleslav and Genevieve Pelarskei ( Polish. Pielarskiej ). He graduated from the local school in 1981, after which he studied for two years at a medical college in Zielona Gora (specialty is a physiotherapist). He began playing sports at the age of seven, when he began to go to the local pool with his father. After some time, he began to practice pentathlon , which he learned about while watching the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal . Impressed by this sport, Maciej Chizovic remained after the performance of the Polish athlete Janusz Pytsyak-Petsyak, who won the gold medal in the modern pentathlon. In 1988, due to depression caused by unsuccessful performances, he left sports and left for the USA . The first significant medal in his asset was bronze, which was obtained in team competitions at the 1990 World Modern Pentathlon Championships . Later he became the owner of medals of various denominations at the European Championships of 1991, 1997, as well as the World Championships of 1991, 1994/95/96 [2] .

In 2017, the Polish Olympic Committee held various events in Polish cities, which was timed to coincide with the first Olympic Games in Athens in 1896 . At the same time, honoring athletes was held, who 25 years ago quite successfully performed at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona . Maciej Chizovic was invited to the celebration [3] .

Olympic appearances

The only successful Olympic competitions in Chizovich's career were the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona . With a result of 16,018 gold in the team competitions in modern pentathlon was won by the Polish team ( Arkadiusz Skrshipashek , Dariusz Gozdzyak , Maciej Chizovic). The second place was taken by the Joint Team (15.924), and the third Italian team (15.760) [4] [5] .
