Biography

Born on September 5, 1947.

In 1971, he graduated with honors from the Faculty of Physics and Mechanics (Department of Experimental Nuclear Physics) of the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute [2] .

In 1981 - he defended his thesis, topic: "The phenomena of heat and charge transfer in neutron stars and white dwarfs" [2] .

In 1992 - defended his doctoral dissertation, topic: “Kinetics of the substance of neutron stars” [2] .

In 2011, he was elected a corresponding member of the RAS .

Scientific activity

A specialist in the field of neutron star physics, the author of many works on nonlinear optics.

The main scientific results:

  • the kinetic theory and theory of neutrino radiation of matter were developed under conditions of extremely high densities, magnetic fields and superfluidity of baryons in the nuclei of neutron stars;
  • a method for studying the internal structure of superfluid neutron stars was developed and implemented by comparing the theory of cooling of stars with observations of isolated and accreting neutron stars;
  • The internal structure of neutron stars was studied using the developed method;
  • restrictions are placed on the equation of state of superdense matter;
  • The first serious evidence of the presence of superfluidity of baryons in the nuclei of cooling neutron stars was discovered.

She has been teaching - she has been teaching theoretical physics and astrophysics for over 30 years ( St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University , St. Petersburg Academic University ).

Member of the International Astronomical Union , member of the dissertation council, member of the Academic Council of the Department of General Physics, Plasma Physics and Astrophysics of the Ioffe Physical-Technical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
