TPD-K1

Content

TPD-K1 - Soviet tank sight - range finder designed for use as part of the standard 1A40 sighting system on domestic combat vehicles T-64 , T-72 , T-80 [1] and on their foreign counterparts (for example - PT-91 [2 ] ). The main purpose of the sight is to review the battlefield, detect suitable objects for destruction, both stationary and moving, estimate the distance to them and maintain effective fire from a tank artillery gun and a machine gun paired with it in motion and from the spot [1] .

Industrial production of the device is carried out by the Krasnogorsk plant named after S. A. Zverev [1] .

General Description

The sight-rangefinder TPD-K1 is an optical-electronic gyroscopic device, consisting of an optical sight with independent stabilization of the field of observation in the vertical plane and a laser rangefinder [3] . In the horizontal plane, the field of view is stabilized along with the tank tower [4] . The device is fastened to the left of the gun with the help of two trunnions in the shock suspension bracket of the front suspension on the chase tower, and the rear suspension to the tower roof [4] . The tilt angles are transmitted from the gun to the sight through a parallelogram mechanism located on the cradle [4] .

The technical capabilities of the sight allow target designation, preparation of initial data for firing, introducing corrections for deviation of firing conditions from tabular (normal), evaluating the results of fire and introducing corrections for daytime conditions [3] . It is possible to operate the device in the following modes [4] :

  • automatic mode with stabilized aiming of a tank gun in vertical and horizontal planes,
  • the mode of stabilized observation in the vertical plane with semi-automatic aiming in the horizontal with the help of servo drives of the tank tower,
  • the "semi-automatic" mode with manual guidance in the vertical plane and semi-automatic aiming in the horizontal,
  • manual guidance mode in both planes when the gyrostabilizer of the sight is inoperative and the artillery gun and tank turret mechanisms are disabled.
