Biography

Born in the Czech Republic. In 1922, as the director of the Collegiate Gymnasium in Presov, he first introduced the teaching of the Ruthenian language, in the same year he published the first collection of poems by A. Dukhnovich .

In 1923, he was the editor of the first Rusynsky diary Rusin in Transcarpathia ( Uzhhorod ). In the 1930s, the Pacific moved to Prague. In the 1950s and 1960s, he took part in the cultural and scientific activities of Presov Ruthenians, published Pověsti z Podkarpatské Rusi (1930).

Tikhiy is the author of the monograph “Vývoj současného spisovného jazyka na Podkarpatské Rusi” (1938) and many articles on Transcarpathian figures, monuments of literature, folklore and the language of the Bachvan Ruthenians , Ukrainian literature, Ukrainian-Czech and Ukrainian-Slovak relations, a number of Ukrainian encyclopedic articles in Czecho-Ukrainian studies "Ottův slovnik naučný nové doby".

Tikhiy translated into Czech the works of Ukrainian and Ruthenian writers: T. Shevchenko , Lesya Ukrainka , I. Franko , Danilovich-Korotnyansky and others. Edited the directory “Praktická učebnice rus. jazyka "(1939).

One of the streets of Uzhgorod is named in honor of Frantisk Tikhiy .
