Biography
Born in Baku , in the family of an oil engineer. He entered the Baku Conservatory and graduated from the composer department at age 22, then became the conductor of the Opera House in Tallinn . He was the musical director of the ballet of Leonid Yakobson .
In 1975 , he composed the music for the ballet Cowboy . Kogan’s opera “ Susanna and the Elders” was staged by the Novosibirsk Opera House , and the opera “ Flint ” has been on the stage of the Opera Studio of the St. Petersburg Conservatory for 25 years.
The ballet “ Pinocchio ” by Boris Eifman and “ Waterloo Bridge ” by the artists of the Kirov Theater ballet were staged to music by Kogan.
The author of musicals , in particular, The Enchanted Tailor, music for films ( Galatea with E. Maksimova and others), and arrangements of Jewish folk songs . He is the author of music for ballet performances , ballet films , romances , operas , songs based on poems by Silver Age poets.
