Biography
Robert Collie was born November 10, 1954 in the city of Christchurch in the Canterbury region.
The first serious success at the adult international level was achieved in the 1974 season, when he joined the main team of the New Zealand national team and played at the Commonwealth Games at Christchurch, where he won the bronze dignity in the lightweight category. I also visited the Oceania Championship in Papeete, but managed to get here only to the stage of the semi-finals [1] .
Thanks to a series of successful performances in 1976, Collie won the right to defend the honor of the country at the Montreal Summer Olympics , while he was already welterweight. He didn’t play very well here, in the very first match, having entered the ring against the titled Soviet boxer Valery Limasov , he was disqualified in the third round for a deliberate header of the opponent [2] .
In the future, he no longer took part in any significant international boxing competitions.
