Tadeusz Makarevich ( Polish: Tadeusz Makarewicz ; Nevirkov , August 17, 1925) - Polish military, in 1973 - 1987 - head of the Security Unit Group of the Ministry of Defense of Poland . In 1981 - 1983 - member of the Military Council for National Salvation .

Deportation and War
Born into a siege family. In 1939 , as a result of the Polish campaign of the Red Army , Western Ukraine was annexed to the Soviet Union . February 10, 1940 Makarevichi were deported to the internal regions of the USSR and involved in forced labor [1] .
In 1943, Tadeusz Makarevich joined the 1st Tadeusz Kosciuszko Infantry Division , formed in the USSR. He participated in the Battle of Lenino . Then he served in the 3rd Infantry Division named after Romuald Traugutt . He participated in the battles for Warsaw and Kolobrzeg , was wounded, reached Berlin . For military merits, he was awarded the Silver Cross of Virtuti militari , the Cross of Grunwald , the Cross of the Brave .
From April to September 1945 he studied at the officer courses at the Moscow Frunze Academy . In 1946, Tadeusz Makarevich received the rank of captain of the ground forces of the Polish Army .
Service in Poland
In 1949 - 1950 Tadeusz Makarevich was trained at the Higher School of Infantry Officers. In 1960-1963 he studied at the Academy of the General Staff . Since 1953 he served in the school of naval officers in Gdynia , led the training of personnel of the Navy . He received the rank of colonel and the qualification of a military diplomat. He was awarded state awards by the NDP ( Order of the Renaissance of Poland , Order of the Banner of Labor ).
Tadeusz Makarevich belonged to the military nomenclature, was a member of the ruling Communist Party of the PUWP . In late 1947 - 1948 , as a platoon commander, Makarevich participated in the suppression of the anti-communist armed underground in Podlasie [2] . Since 1970 - Member of the Party Committee of the Navy Command. In 1978, he attended a course of executive functionaries at the Evening University of Marxism-Leninism at the ideological department of the Central Committee of the PUWP.
January 23, 1973 Tadeusz Makarevich was appointed head of the Group of Security Units of the Ministry of Defense of Poland. He held this post for 14 years - until February 5, 1987 . He coordinated the actions of the military security agencies with the political investigation and repression service - Security Council of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Poland . Participated in the suppression of political opposition, was a staunch opponent of the Solidarity movement . In July 1980, he was a delegate to the VIII Congress of the PUWP, at which the issue of countering the independent trade union was discussed.
On December 13, 1981, Colonel Makarevich was included into the composition of the Military Council for National Salvation ( WRON ), headed by General Jaruzelski, as the head of the Group of Security Units. He participated in the suppression of "Solidarity" and political repression of the period of martial law [3] .
In 1987 , during the political maneuvers of Jaruzelsky, Makarevich was removed from the leadership of the security forces and sent to the military attaché in the NRB .
Since 1991 - already in the Third Commonwealth - he retired.
In the Third Commonwealth
After the change of the socio-political system of Poland in 1989 - 1991, Tadeusz Makarevich took up social activities in organizations of military veterans of the NDP [4] . Participates in public events, receives corporate awards [5] .
Tadeusz Makarevich was not held accountable for his activities during the period of martial law. However, the Institute of National Memory ranks it among the functionaries of the communist party and the punitive organs of the regime [6] . In 2008 , the question was raised of the deprivation of military awards and a sharp reduction in pensions for former members of WRON. The organizations in which Makarevich is a member came out in his defense, and appealed to the "principles of a civilized world, democracy and social justice" [7] .
Brother Tadeusz Makarevich - Kazimierz Makarevich - was a general of the Polish Army, commanded the airborne division.
