La Costa Municipality ( Spanish: Partido de La Costa ) is a municipality in Argentina , part of the province of Buenos Aires .

The administrative center is Mar del Tuyu .

History

The municipality was separated in 1978 from the municipality of General Lavalle in connection with the growth of resort towns. Its name means "Coastal." To avoid conflicts between the two largest cities of the municipality (Mar de Aho and San Clemente del Tuyu), it was decided to make the town of Mar del Tuyu the administrative center of the municipality.

Geography

The municipality is located in the east of the province of Buenos Aires .

The municipality borders:

in the north and east - with the Atlantic Ocean
in the south - with the municipality of Pinamar
in the west - with the municipality of General Lavalle
