Zilantcon

“Zilantkon” was first held in 1991 at the initiative of the Kazan city Club of science fiction lovers “Wanderers” with the assistance of Kazan State University . The Kazan convention is called Zilant after the dragon Zilant, who, according to legend, once lived near Kazan. The first festival brought together about 100 people from Kazan, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Krasnoyarsk and other cities of the former USSR ^[1] .

The founding fathers of the first Zilantkon were an employee of KSU, president of the Wanderers Club Andrei Ermolaev (Ragnar, Dr. Mirabilis, President); student of the Institute of Culture, leader of the Silver Elf team of elves Mikhail Rusin (Beleg Morkvendi) and member of the Methodological Seminar Rustem Maksudov. They were joined by members of the CLF Oleg Gabelko, Shamil Amirkhanov, Tatyana Borschevskaya (Rumyantsev for her husband) (Tordis), Lyudmila Smerkovich (Skadi), Elvira Baygildeeva (Udrune-Heldindreda), Vladislav Khabarov (Baliny g), as well as numerous led by Slava Khabarov, and game elves led by Mikhail Rusin. The organizing committee for the preparation of the convention initially had three co-chairs, but a single Chairman of the organizing committee was chosen by the opening of the festival. They became Andrei Ermolaev, and he held this post for ten years. After spending the tenth Zilantkon in 2000, he announced his resignation, held his character and resigned despite numerous requests to stay. Boris Fetisov was selected as the new chairman of the Organizing Committee (he was a member of the organizing committee from the very first festival and went through all stages of growth in it). He remains the Chairman of the organizing committee until now, and Andrei Ermolaev is the honorary president of the convention.

In the 2000s, a large number of people from different cities of Russia joined the Zilantkon Organizing Committee, and now its organization is the business of not only Kazan, but the whole country.

Zilantcon conventions were held in the following rooms:

• Cultural and Sports Center UNICS at KSU (1991, 1992);
• Kazan House of Scientists (1993);
• Faculty of Physical Education KSPI and Center for Children's Creativity. Alisha (1994);
• National Cultural Center (former Lenin Museum) and the Center for Children's Creativity. Alisha (1995);

Zilantkon was originally conceived by the organizers as a “synthetic” convention, uniting representatives of several youth parties at once - fans (fans of science fiction literature), gamers (participants in role-playing games) and masters (organizers of role-playing games), Tolkienists (people seriously studying the work of J. R.R. Tolkien), reenactors (members of historical reconstruction clubs), minstrels (representatives of song and musical game culture) and so on. In the early years of the Zilantkon’s existence (1991-95), many doubted that this task was feasible, but the subsequent development of the convention proved the correctness of the path chosen by the Zilantkon Organizing Committee. In 2010, the convention was held for the twentieth time. He is the undisputed leader among the game conventions of Russia and has a fairly high authority among the fan conventions.

At the "Zilantkon" literary prizes " Big Zilant " are awarded ^[3] . and Small Zilant. The difference between “Big Zilant” and most other awards for the best fantastic work is that the works published neither this year nor the previous one fundamentally do not fall into the nomination. Books for 5 years, published from 2 to 7 years ago, not forgotten during this time, but, on the contrary, have gained popularity and proved their high artistic potential, have the right to participate in the nomination. The award decision is made by the literary Jury, co-chaired by Andrei Yermolaev (critic and editor, first President of Zilantkon, and now one of the administrators of Fantlab.ru) and science fiction writer Svyatoslav Loginov.

At the “Zilantkon”, role-playing prizes “ Durendal ”, “ The most popular game ” and others are also awarded.

• Literary and fantastic section: master classes of writers, science fiction (or fan block), tolkinistics, LitIgroStroy (LIS).
• Music section: recitals, group concerts, prefabricated concerts, “minstrel”, “Tournament on Songs”, central concert venue, open program.
• Show direction: zilant film, theater, exhibitions, discos, historical dance floor, fashion block.
• Tournaments: tournaments on board games, gaming, historical.
• Partnership projects of other conventions, round tables.

RI Theory

Traditionally, at the ория Theory of RI ’site, a discussion of the accumulated experience of creating, implementing and organizing role-playing games of live action takes place.

Literary and Fantastic Section

Writer

Master classes are seminars for teaching work with prosaic texts. It differs from the traditional liteminar in that people come here mainly to listen to class leaders, consult and draw conclusions. In a few classes, the seminar participants can get information about the craft, methods of working with the word, syllable and text, learn how to draw up a manuscript, how to prepare it for printing and where to send it. There are no awards or diplomas for training, but the winners of prose master classes are publicly announced.

Music Section

Team concerts

"Concert concerts" is a good opportunity for performers who are ready to perform in a jam session format, for musicians who are ready to improvise and actively interact with each other on stage. It is also an opportunity to perform for performers who do not have material for a full hour solo album.

Musicians are selected according to the similarity of style and genres of their work.

Exhibitions

This site is dedicated to visual works arising under the influence of role-playing games and science fiction. The main goal of the site is the exposition of such works.

At the Zilantcon-2005 convention in Kazan, the writer A.A. Bushkov was awarded the anti- prize “Anti Zilant ” - a bag with a trifle totaling 7 rubles 2 kopecks, with the wording for achieving maximum commercial success with minimal creative contribution for the series of novels “About Svarog” ^[4] .
