About 35,000 students study at Massey University, 17,000 of whom are distance learning or distance learning, making it the second largest university in New Zealand. More than 3,000 foreign students from more than 100 countries study at the university. The learning process takes place on three campuses in Palmerston North , and Wellington .
History
It was founded in 1926 as a branch of the University of New Zealand. In 1927, changed its name to Massey College of Agriculture. The first classes took place on February 1, 1927. Since 1932, girls and women began to study here. The first female teacher in college was the botanist Ella Orr Campbell , who got a job here in March 1945, and was the only teacher at this university until 1963 [1] [2] [3] .
Since 1961, Massey University bears its current name.

Massey University is the only university in New Zealand to graduate in aviation , arbitration, veterinary medicine or nanotechnology .
