Traditionally, one of the biggest events of the festival was an open-air concert on the famous Potemkin Stairs on July 12, on the opening day of the festival, a Serbian director and musician - Emir Kusturica and his friends - The No Smoking Orchestra also performed here, according to the tradition of the festival, on July 13 a grandiose film performance was held, accompanied by a symphony orchestra - a screening of the film poem " Sunrise ", shot by the classic of German film impressionism Friedrich Murnau . This film marked the rise of the era of sound cinema and received three Oscar statuettes at the first ever Academy Awards ^[3] .

The award ceremony of the 4th Odessa International Film Festival was held on July 20, 2013 at the Odessa Opera and Ballet Theater .
