He later became a coach of the Berlin “ Hertha ”, but on December 4, 2003 he was fired.

After Hertha, Hub coached Cologne . He was the head coach of this club from June 14, 2004 to May 22, 2005. With Stevens, the " goats " won the Second Bundesliga , thereby rising to the First Bundesliga .

In May 2005, Hub Stevens returned to Roda.

On February 2, 2007, he returned to Germany and became the head coach of Hamburg , replacing Thomas Doll [2] .

While Stevens was appointed head coach, Hamburg was in the relegation zone. With the arrival of the Dutchman, the results improved and not only did Hamburg avoid relegation from the main division, but he also finished the championship in 8th place, thereby winning a ticket to the Intertoto Cup 2007 .

Stevens returned to Eindhoven , but now as a PSV coach, after his contract with Hamburg ended at the end of the 2007/08 season. Hub signed a contract with the Dutch club for 2 years. After the club's poor results, Stevens resigned [3] .

Stevens left PSV in January 2009 and signed a contract with Salzburg's Red Bull on April 21, 2009. The Dutchman’s work in the Austrian club began on July 1, 2009. On February 9, 2010, Hub Stevens extended the contract with the Salzburg club until 2012 [4] . On April 8, 2011, he was fired from the club for three consecutive draws in the Austrian championship [5] .

September 27, 2011 returned to the club Schalke 04 [6] , which is associated with the most successful pages of his coaching biography [7] . The contract with Schalke 04 is calculated until June 30, 2013 [8] . On December 16, 2012, he was dismissed from his post for unsatisfactory results in the championship (a series of six matches without victories, 7th place) [9] . At the same time, Schalke 04 took first place in his group in the group stage of the Champions League and made it to the playoffs of the most prestigious club tournament in Europe.

On June 14, 2013, Stevens was appointed head coach of the Greek club PAOK [10] . In March 2014, he was fired [11] .

On March 9, 2014, Stevens led Stuttgart , which at that time was 15th in the championship [12] . Having scored 12 points in the last ten matches, the club escaped from relegation, but the contract with Hub was not renewed. On November 25, 2014, Stevens again became the head coach of Stuttgart, replacing Armin Fe [13] . The team under his leadership again escaped from relegation, and at the end of the season, Stevens left the club.
