The 31st tournament of the Netherlands Chess Association was held in 1903 in Hilversum . In addition to Dutch chess players, the tournament was also attended by representatives of Austria-Hungary , Germany and Great Britain. The victory in the competition was won by the German master Paul Leonhardt , ahead of Aldřich Duras by half a point. They significantly broke away from the rest of the participants. In the last round, Duras did not manage to defeat Benjamin Leissen , and Leonhardt managed to beat Jan Kolste . The outcome of the struggle was also influenced by their personal meeting in the 1st round, in which Leonhardt won.

Notes
- ↑ There is no information in the sources whether Y. Weiselar, who left after the 7th round, was counted in the final result. If they were not counted, then the point should be subtracted from the results of all participants except Leissen, Colste and de Soires (who also dropped out). From the results of Leissen and Kolste should be subtracted by half a point. This does not affect the final position of Leissen, and Kolste takes a clean 7th place (since Trimborn and Esser lose the whole point).
- ↑ Max Lange ( German: Max Lange , April 25, 1883 - September 1, 1923 ) - German chess player. Full namesake of the famous master M. Lange .
