The Union of Russian Photographers is an all-Russian public organization uniting professional photographers (about 2,480 full members as of October 1, 2017 ). The main goals and objectives of the Union are to promote the development of domestic photo art, its promotion in the country and abroad, the preservation and creative use of photographic heritage. The Union protects the copyrights and interests of photographers in state and public organizations, private enterprises both in Russia and abroad.

In order to promote and develop photo art, the Union organizes exhibitions, contests, festivals, creative seminars, conferences and symposiums, renders all possible assistance to the amateur amateur movement in Russia, including the children's movement.
The Union participates in the international photographic movement, cooperates with international organizations.
Branches and branches of the Union are in 47 constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
