Biography

Born on August 7, 1940 in the city of Alma-Ata.

In 1963, he graduated from the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute , specializing in Steam Generation Engineering.

From 1963 to 1992, he worked at the Institute of Thermophysics SB RAS , where he went from a trainee researcher to the head of the laboratory of phase transformations.

In 1981 - defended his doctoral dissertation.

In 1991 - awarded the academic title of professor.

Since 1992 - Head of the Department of Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer at Moscow State University of Environmental Engineering (IIMM).

In 2011, he was elected a corresponding member of the RAS .

Scientific activity

Pokusaev Boris Grigorievich - specialist in the field of thermohydromechanics and thermophysics of multiphase media.

In the 1970s, for the first time, he studied in detail the local turbulent characteristics and heat and mass transfer coefficients of two-phase flows, jet and film flows by the electrodiffusion method.

In the field of wave dynamics and non-stationary processes in gas and vapor-liquid media with a carrier liquid phase, as well as in porous systems, he studied the gas-dynamic characteristics of such media, the dynamics and interphase heat and mass transfer of gas and vapor cavities in a wave process using shock pipe methods.

He made a significant contribution to the methodology and development of fundamentally new experimental methods for studying multiphase media: electrodiffusion, shock wave, immersion optical tomography, protected by 10 copyright certificates and patents.

The author of more than 200 published articles and reports, 6 monographs, two of which are published in the USA.

Under his leadership, prepared 6 doctors and 15 candidates of science.
